£95 first hour

Most faults are found and fixed within the hour. If it needs parts or longer, you get the price before I continue.

How a fault finding visit works

  1. Tell me the symptomsWhen it started, what trips, what was switched on. A photo of the fuse board helps.
  2. Isolate and testI make the installation safe, then test circuit by circuit to find exactly where the fault is, rather than guessing.
  3. Fix it properlyDamaged accessories, failed connections and faulty cable are repaired or replaced, then retested.
  4. Explain what happenedYou get a plain-English explanation of the cause, and anything else I spotted that you should know about.

Questions about fault finding

How much does fault finding cost?

£95 for the first hour. That covers finding and fixing most faults. If a repair needs parts or more time, I tell you the cost and only carry on once you agree.

Why does my board keep tripping?

The most common causes are a faulty appliance, water getting into a fitting or outside socket, or damaged wiring. RCDs trip when current leaks to earth, so the fault can be anywhere on that circuit. Testing tells us exactly where.

Can you come today?

Often, yes. Ring me and I will tell you honestly when I can get there. If it is dangerous, I will tell you how to make it safe while you wait.

Do you work for landlords and agents?

Yes. I regularly handle tenant call-outs for landlords and letting agents, and send the findings and photos to whoever is paying.

Something stopped working?

Ring me, or WhatsApp a photo of the fuse board and tell me what happened.
