Emergency electrician in South London
Burning smell, scorched socket, no power or a board that will not reset. Here is what to do right now, and how to reach me.
Do this first
- Smoke, fire or someone hurt: call 999Get everyone out. Do not try to deal with an electrical fire with water.
- Switch off at the fuse boardOnly if you can reach it safely and it is dry. Use the main switch to turn everything off.
- Stop using the socket or switchDo not plug anything back into a socket that is scorched, hot, crackling or smells of burning.
- Check whether it is a power cutIf neighbours or street lights are off too, call 105. That one is not an electrician job.
- Ring meTell me what happened and send a photo if you can. I'll tell you how soon I can get there.

Emergency call-out questions
How quickly can you get to me?
It depends where I am and what I am already doing. Ring me and I will give you an honest time. If I cannot get to you quickly enough, I will tell you straight away so you can call someone else.
How much is an emergency call-out?
Weekdays 8am to 6pm, £95 for the first hour. Evenings until 10pm and Saturdays, £150. Sundays, bank holidays and overnight, £225. Parts and any extra time are agreed with you before I carry on.
My power is off but so is my neighbour's. Is that you?
No, that is a power cut. Call 105 free from any phone to report it to the network operator. It is their equipment, and there is no charge.
Should I call 999?
Yes, if there is smoke, fire, or someone has had an electric shock and is hurt. Do not touch anyone who is still in contact with electricity: switch off at the fuse board first if you safely can.
Not sure if it is urgent?
Ring me and describe it. I will tell you honestly whether it needs someone today.
